Seltzer Cocktail

Drinks can still be fun while cutting out sugars, caffeine, and alcohol. Seltzer is simply carbonated water that comes in lots of flavors and can be dressed up in so many ways. Make sure the seltzer you choose is truly sugar free. Check the nutrition facts on the back! Some seltzer brands like Liquid Death contain small amounts of sugar. Add seltzer to a cute glass, infused with some fruit, and/or add lemon as a garnish for a perfect refreshing summer (or anytime) drink. Note, seltzer can sometimes cause some stomach upset for those that are sensitive due to the fact that seltzer is mildly more acidic than water. When carbon dioxide is dissolved in water, it changes the pH slightly. If you notice this you may want to stay away from carbonation all together.



Ingredients:

seltzer (sugar and alcohol free)

fruit of your choice

cute drinking glass


If you would like to add fruit to your drink, infuse by simply adding fruit to the seltzer in a drinking glass. Sliced lemons can be added to the rim for an added effect. Keep in mind when adding fruit that you may want to stick to organic fruits. Strawberries and blueberries are part of the "dirty dozen" which are a list of fruits and veggies that contain the most pesticides. Essentially fruits like strawberries can potentially absorb these pesticides where fruits like oranges have a harder rind that protects that amount of chemicals that soak into the fruit. Imagine adding these pesticide soaked fruits into your drink; you are basically creating a chemical infused drink. The fruit is just for flavor and flair. If you are avoiding sugars, I suggest not eating the fruit.
